Yasmin Mansour
<p>Yasmin has over 15 years of experience in facilities and operations, with a focus on addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, pollution, energy, and water management. As the Sustainability Director at The American University in Cairo (AUC), she leads the Office of Sustainability and works to embed a culture of sustainable development within the university.
Yasmin is skilled in developing and writing technical reports, including the Carbon Footprint and Sustainability Report, as well as international reports addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has also created AUC's COE"UNGC - Communication on Engagement," which highlights the university's commitment to the United Nations principles regarding human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
She is a certified Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) and holds Facility Management Professional (FMP) credentials from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Yasmin received her master's (MEng.) degree with high honors in Construction Management from the American University in Cairo.
In addition to her role at AUC, Yasmin is actively involved in community service and NGOs. She serves as a board member of the Egyptian Facility Management Association (EGFMA) and is a member of the ISO/TC 267 Facility Management Committee, contributing to the development of international standards in the field.
Yasmin is a certified Executive Education Instructor at AUC and an SFM instructor, as well as a course developer. Recently, she joined the Advisory Committee of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), providing her with a valuable opportunity to positively impact the field, network with sustainability leaders, and promote sustainable practices in higher education.
Passionate about coaching design thinking, Yasmin is dedicated to fostering innovation and problem-solving through a human-centered approach. With a deep understanding of design thinking principles and methodologies, she guides individuals and teams in unlocking their creativity and realizing their potential. Her core motivation is to integrate a sustainable development philosophy within The American University in Cairo and enhance its institutional response to environmental challenges. Through her work, she aims to improve the university's operations, strengthen its finances, and enhance its reputation as a leader in sustainability in Cairo, Egypt, and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.
Yasmin's expertise lies at the intersection of sustainability, facility management, and design thinking, and she has gained international recognition for her efforts to promote sustainability at AUC and develop sustainable practices in the built environment.
Originally from Cairo, Egypt, Yasmin graduated with high honors in 2002 from Ain Shams University with a B.Sc. in Architecture Engineering, specializing in Urban & Planning. She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic
