Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Named after the Greek philosopher Aristotle, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki stands as Greece's largest university, nestled in the ancient city of Thessaloniki, just a short distance from Aristotle's birthplace in Stagira. Established in 1925 with a focus on humanities, the university initially began with departments such as Philosophy Faculty in 1926 and mathematics and science faculty in 1927. Since then, it has expanded to encompass twelve faculties, offering a wide array of academic disciplines. Renowned for its international reputation, the university actively participates in programs like the Erasmus Programme, facilitating global exchange. Notably, it provides courses in Modern Greek language and culture to international students, supported by the Institute of Modern Greek Studies.
