Brunel University

About Brunel University

Brunel University London is a campus-based university situated in Uxbridge, West London, and is home to nearly 13,000 students from over 100 countries worldwide. Founded in 1966, our distinctive mission is to combine teaching and research excellence with the practical and entrepreneurial approach pioneered by its namesake, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Central London can be reached in only 45 minutes by Uxbridge underground station, so it is a straightforward journey into the center of the capital. There is also a night bus that can bring you from central London to the edge of the campus. The town of Uxbridge itself, which still has buildings dating back to its time as a Georgian market town, is a thriving commercial and business center. Its major shopping complexes boast a wide range of shops, cafes, and a nine-screen multiplex cinema. As a campus-based university, students on-site are never more than 10 minutes away from halls of residence, catering, social and sports facilities, lecture theatres, the Library, the Computer Centre, or welfare services. We have invested £300 million in redeveloping the campus in the last few years, with many new and refurbished social, teaching, and sporting facilities, and more green spaces outside. Social life on campus revolves around the Students' Union, whose student-elected staff help provide you with the best possible experience. Brunel's modern facilities, bars, refectory, shops, café, central atrium, and refurbished nightclub provide the perfect setting for a night out, trying new activities, or relaxing after lectures. The Union is proud of the diversity of clubs and societies that you can join and even help run - everything from Animé Society to Snow Club. If your interests are not represented, they'll help you start your own group. You can organize most of your day-to-day needs without leaving the campus. There is a bank, a pharmacy, and a general shop where you can buy groceries, newspapers, stationery, and even top up your phone card. The Computer Centre sells a range of IT-related products such as printers, network cables, memory sticks, and disks, and the Students’ Union hosts a weekly fruit and veg market and Fairtrade stalls. Student life The Brunel campus has a lively and friendly atmosphere, and there is plenty for students to do outside of their studies within the modern and self-contained surroundings of the campus. In addition to on-campus cafes, bars, and a nightclub, the Union of Brunel Students helps to organize and fund around 100 clubs and societies. The performing and visual arts are also catered for at Brunel with a range of performances and extra-curricular activities. With its convenient proximity to London, students enjoy all that the city has to offer, including its famous landmarks such as Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament, world-class theater, cutting-edge music, and restaurants to suit all tastes. Brunel International offers a comprehensive range of day trips, e.g., Oxford, Cambridge, and Windsor Castle, and to mainland Europe.
