About Chung Yuan Christian University

Established in 1955 as Chung Yuan Christian College of Science and Engineering by a group of Christian Taiwanese and American educators, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) was founded with the aim of nurturing emerging engineering and science talent. Upgraded to a full university in 1980, CYCU has since grown to encompass seven faculties, with a strong emphasis on science, engineering, business, design, and law. Guided by its founding motto of "education through honest, diligent pursuit and practical experience," CYCU is committed to promoting higher education for the benefit of the Chinese people while upholding Christian values of faith, hope, and love. Through its Office of International and Cross-Strait Education, the university facilitates international exchanges and services for international students. Notable alumni include figures such as Chang Fan, former deputy minister of finance in Taiwan, and Hwang Jung-chiou, chairman of Taiwan Power Company. Situated in the Zhongli District of Taoyuan City, Northern Taiwan, CYCU's campus enjoys a humid subtropical climate, characterized by mild winters and hot summers.
