The Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) is one of the best universities in the country, in teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate) and research. Internationally, the institution is among the thousand best in the world and the 14th best in the country, according to The Word University Rankings 2018 . UFPE also stands out in national assessments that take into account, for graduation, student performance rates in the National Student Performance Exam (Enade), the structure of institutions and investment in teachers and courses, now gathered in the General Course Index (IGC), and the qualifications and scientific production of postgraduate teachers – by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), these two MEC evaluations. In recent years, as part of the Federal Government's teaching expansion programs, the University has expanded its operations and today has three campuses, located in Recife, Vitória de Santo Antão and Caruaru In the period from 2005 to 2016, more than 2,500 vacancies were created in undergraduate courses . During this period, more than 30 courses were implemented, including Cinema, Archeology, Museology, Dance, Information Systems, Materials Engineering, Energy Engineering and Naval Engineering. The growth is mainly due to two programs from the Ministry of Education: the Internalization of Higher Education and the Support for Restructuring and Expansion Plans of Federal Universities (Reuni).
