Georgia State University

Georgia State University (Georgia State, State, or GSU) is a public research university located in Atlanta, Georgia. Established in 1913, it stands as one of the University System of Georgia's four research universities. As the largest institution of higher education in Georgia and one of the nation's largest, it boasts an enrollment of approximately 50,000 students, including around 33,000 undergraduate and graduate students at its main downtown campus. Classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity," Georgia State is renowned for its comprehensive offerings, providing more than 250 degree programs across 10 academic colleges and schools, spanning over 100 fields of study. The university is equipped with two libraries: the University Library, encompassing Library North and Library South on the main campus and Perimeter College campuses, and the Law Library situated on the main campus. Combined, these libraries house over 13 million holdings and serve as federal document depositories. Georgia State University also wields significant economic influence, contributing a substantial $2.5 billion to Georgia's economy. Home to the Georgia State Panthers, the university's intercollegiate athletics teams compete in NCAA Division I's Sun Belt Conference. Additionally, Georgia State holds the distinction of being a founding member of the Sun Belt Conference.
