About Guizhou University
Guizhou University (GZU) traces its roots back to 1902 as the Guizhou Institute of Higher Learning. Over the years, it underwent several name changes before officially adopting the name Guizhou University in 1950. GZU has a rich history spanning 120 years and has achieved significant milestones. It is recognized as one of China's national 211 Project universities and is included in the national Double First-Class Initiative. Covering an area of 309.17 hectares, GZU comprises 40 colleges and serves over 34,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 13,000 graduate students. It boasts a faculty of over 4,200 members, with over 2,700 full-time teachers, many of whom hold doctoral degrees. GZU is dedicated to research excellence, with disciplines ranking in the top 1% globally according to ESI data. The university has established numerous research platforms and laboratories, contributing significantly to national strategic needs and industrial transformation. In addition to its academic achievements, GZU is committed to promoting ideological and political education and has received several accolades in this regard. It is also actively involved in promoting socioeconomic development in Guizhou through collaborative partnerships with enterprises and initiatives aimed at rural revitalization and poverty alleviation. Internationally, GZU has established partnerships with universities and research institutions across 43 countries and regions, actively fostering international exchanges and collaborative education.
