Hangzhou Normal University traces its origins back to the Zhejiang Official Dual-Level Normal School, established in 1908. Over the years, it underwent several transformations, evolving into Hangzhou Teachers College in 1978 and eventually becoming Hangzhou Normal University in 2007. Throughout its history, the university has remained steadfast in its commitment to education, guided by the motto "Diligence, Conscientiousness, Honesty and Generosity, Erudition, Elegance, Refinement and Excellence." This dedication to excellence was further emphasized with the institution's strategic goal of becoming a first-class university, a vision pursued vigorously since its 100th anniversary in 2008. Today, Hangzhou Normal University boasts 24 schools and 1 affiliated hospital across its Cangqian, Xiasha, and Yuhuangshan campuses, covering a vast area of about 240 hectares. With a faculty of nearly 2,400 staff members, including 1,700 full-time teachers, the university serves over 30,000 full-time students, including both domestic and international students. The university takes pride in its distinguished faculty, which includes an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and numerous top talents recognized at provincial and national levels. With 13 disciplines ranked in the top 1% internationally according to ESI rankings, Hangzhou Normal University has firmly established itself among China's top 100 universities.
