About Henan Normal University

Henan Normal University(HNU)is located in Xinxiang City of northern Henan Province. Founded in 1923, one of the key universities of Henan Province and supported by the Henan provincial government, HNU is one of the excellent universities in China in undergraduate teaching evaluation conducted by China’s Ministry of Education, and one of the supported universities in the education revitalization plan for China’s central and western area. Since 2015, HNU has been supported by the Henan provincial government and China’s Ministry of Education. In 2017, its major of Green Chemistry & Electric Source Materials was evaluated to be part of the National Overseas Expertise Introduction Project for Discipline Innovation (“111 Project” for short). At present there are 24 colleges, 83 undergraduate majors, 11 disciplines (Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agronomy, Management and Art), 10 Doctoral degree programs for first-level disciplines of the national standard, 1 Doctorate professional degree authorization category, 4 centers for post-doctoral studies (Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science & Engineering, Biology), 27 Master’s degree programs for the first-level disciplines, 7 Master’s degree programs for the second-level disciplines, and 15 Master's professional degree authorization category. There are nearly 50,000 students in pursuit of different degrees. It boasts the one and only Pavarotti Music Art Center in the world, and a biological specimen museum which is the largest both in scale and variety in Henan province. HNU has an independent college (College of Xinlian), an affiliated middle school, an affiliated elementary school and a kindergarten. Guided by the double first-class strategy, HNU further strengthens the discipline construction and cultivates the top disciplines. It has 28 key disciplines in Henan Province. Its Chemistry and the featured discipline group of Frontier Physics & Clean Energy Material are A disciplines respectively in the preponderant disciplines and the featured disciplines in Henan Province. According to ESI, its Chemistry, Engineering and Material Science enter global top 1%, and it ranks 2nd comprehensively among Henan’s universities. Based on the 2017 global Nature index ranking, its Chemistry ranks 47th among China’s universities, physics 56th, Earth and Environmental Sciences 78th, and it ranks 51st comprehensively among China’s universities and 2nd among Henan’s universities. According to the evaluation of Chinese universities in recent years, it ranks among the best in terms of the faculty’s academic level and performance, the cost of operation, and in the top three comprehensively among Henan’s universities. To expand its overseas cooperation and improve its internationalized education level, HNU has established cooperation and exchanges with 40 high-level universities and scientific research institutions from USA, Russia, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Belarus, Japan, Korea and etc. High-level professors abroad have been working at HNU each year. With the efforts of its faculty and students, with the help of the international cooperative universities, scientific research institutions and the high-level professors, HNU has earned much provincial and national reputation for its educational excellence. HNU will become more open-minded and enterprising, aiming at morality education and further reform in order to enhance its level, promote the double first-class construction and make it more prestigious and distinctive nationally and internationally.
