Mahidol University traces its roots back to the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888 under the patronage of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). The hospital's medical school, inaugurated in 1893, stands as the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand, marking the genesis of Mahidol's esteemed legacy. Evolving into the University of Medical Sciences in 1943, the institution was bestowed with its current name in 1969 by H.M.
