About Medical College of Wisconsin

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), a private medical school situated in Milwaukee, Midwestern US, comprises three schools: the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Spread across three campuses—in central Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Wausau—the institution offers diverse educational pathways tailored to students’ career aspirations. While the School of Medicine in Milwaukee provides a traditional four-year curriculum allowing exploration of various medical specialties, the Green Bay and Wausau campuses offer an accelerated three-year program focused on primary care. With a commitment to practical learning, MCW faculty members serve a vast patient population across Wisconsin, leveraging their expertise gained from caring for hundreds of thousands of patients annually. With over a century of history, MCW evolved from the medical school of Marquette University, later transitioning to an independent institution in 1967 due to financial challenges. Since then, MCW has expanded its reach statewide, culminating in the establishment of its flagship campus in central Milwaukee in 1978. Subsequent developments, including the construction of Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, have enhanced MCW's capacity to deliver exceptional medical education and healthcare services.
