About University of Navarra

Located in Pamplona, the University of Navarra is one of Spain’s most prestigious universities with a distinguished record in teaching and research. Founded in 1952 by the founder of Opus Dei, Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, the private non-for-profit university has a strong Catholic ethos and aims to transmit the movement’s values. With approximately 11,000 students, including some 8,700 undergraduates, spread across four main campuses in the north-east Spanish city, the university offers more than 120 degrees across 14 faculties, two university schools, 17 institutes, a business school, and other centers. The curriculum includes theology in all courses. The University of Navarra also organizes various activities aimed at fostering an understanding of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, as well as providing pastoral care. Additionally, it operates a teaching hospital where over 2,000 qualified professionals treat more than 100,000 patients annually and conduct leading-edge medical research in oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular sciences, gene therapy, and hepatology. Notable alumni include distinguished philosopher Leonardo Polo, physicist Pedro Miguel Etxenique, and former UK transport secretary Ruth Kelly. The university’s mission encompasses the pursuit of truth, academic, cultural, and personal education, promotion of research and healthcare activities, and the development of staff, all with a focus on outreach and service.
