About Nanjing Normal University
Nanjing Normal University is a national “double first-class” university and a high-level university in Jiangsu. The main origin of the school can be traced back to the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, which is one of the birthplaces of higher normal education in China. Later, it went through the Liangjiang Excellent Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Sun Yat-sen University Fourth, Jiangsu University, National Central University, National Nanjing University, etc.; its other source is Huiwen College founded in 1888, and later It developed into Jinling University. In 1951, it merged with Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences (formerly known as Jinling Women's University) to form the public Jinling University. In 1952, the national colleges and universities were restructured, and Nanjing Normal College was established on the basis of the original Nanjing University, the public Jinling University and other related departments. The school was located on the site of the former Jinling Women's University. In 1984, it was renamed Nanjing Normal University. In 1996, it entered the ranks of the national “211 Project” universities. In 2000, Nanjing Power College was merged. In 2015, it became a university jointly established by Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was selected into the first batch of national “double first-class” construction universities. In 2018, it became a "double first-class" construction university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. In 2022, it will be selected into the second round of national "double first-class" construction universities. Currently, the school is striving to build a “first-class university with distinctive characteristics and international influence.” Nanjing Normal University is a century-old school with numerous famous masters and profound cultural heritage. Li Ruiqing, Jiang Qian, Liu Yizheng, Guo Bingwen, Li Shutong, Zhang Shiyi, Tao Xingzhi, Chen Heqin, Wu Yifang, Meng Xiancheng, Yang Xianjiang, Xu Beihong, Gao Juefu, Luo Jialun, Pan Yuliang, Zhang Daqian, Tang Guizhang, Fu Baoshi, Chen Bangjie, Chen Hong , Wu Zuoren, Li Xudan, Sun Wang and many other well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad have been in charge or taught here. At present, a large number of well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad are working hard here, writing books and nurturing future scholars.
