About Nova Southeastern University
Nova Southeastern University was founded in 1964 as Nova University of Advanced Technology, initially situated in downtown Fort Lauderdale before relocating to the former site of Forman Field in Davie. Over the years, it expanded its offerings to include programs in various fields such as law, education, business, psychology, engineering, computing, and oceanography. Following a merger with Southeastern University of Health Sciences in 1994, NSU further diversified its academic portfolio by incorporating colleges of Pharmacy, Optometry, Allied Health, Medical Sciences, and Dental Medicine. Today, NSU is renowned for its innovative distance education programs and field-based initiatives across Florida and beyond. Recognized for its academic excellence and commitment to community engagement, NSU is classified as a research university with "high research activity" by the Carnegie Foundation and holds the distinction of being one of the largest private, not-for-profit institutions in the U.S. to meet the criteria as a Hispanic-serving institution.
