About Oklahoma State University

Oklahoma State University (OSU) traces its roots back to its founding on Christmas Day in 1890, where its inaugural class convened amidst a lack of buildings, books, and a formal curriculum. Following World War II, OSU experienced rapid expansion, with a significant surge in enrollment during the post-war years. This era saw graduates coexisting with veterans and their families in ‘Veteran’s Village,’ utilizing surplus military housing provided by the university on its campus. Presently, OSU spans five campuses and draws over 35,000 students from all 50 US states and approximately 120 countries worldwide. The main campus in Stillwater accommodates over 26,000 students, while the Tulsa campus hosts the Centre for Health Studies, offering graduate degrees in osteopathic medicine, biomedical sciences, and forensic sciences. Additionally, the Institute of Technology, south of Tulsa and established in 1946, boasts numerous industry partnerships. The Oklahoma City branch, operational since 1961, provides undergraduate degree programs, while a branch campus in northeastern Stillwater enrolls an additional 8,000 students. OSU-Tulsa, established in 1999 in the Greenwood neighborhood near downtown Tulsa, offers equivalent degrees to the main campus through a range of courses. The Edmon Low Library, established in 1953, serves as the university's main library, housing over three million volumes. OSU's legacy of academic innovation is exemplified by its executive PhD in business, the first of its kind offered by a major American university. Rooted in the ‘cowboy spirit,’ OSU takes pride in embodying the history and culture of Oklahoma state.
